Summary:Numerical studies were carried out to investigate the flat-plate boundary layer receptivity to vorticity disturbances. The disturbances were introduced indirectly as a wall boundary condition. As a result, it is shown that only the low wavenumber fluctuations in the freestream could generate the vorticity pattern on the wall. It is also shown that the interaction between the streamwise vortices and the boundary layer promotes the rapid growth of the velocity fluctuations.
