Ara-Aによる単純ヘルペスウイルス脳炎治療の臨床試験成績
全国の病院に入院したHSV脳炎症例を対象として, Ara-A投与の有用性を評価するための臨床試験を行なった. ウイルス血清学的検査成績を中心とした診断基準に従って, 研究会でHSV脳炎と判定した症例群を対象とする薬効評価試験では, 対照群 (43例) の致死率が33%であったのに対して, Ara-A投与群の致死率は8%であった.従って治療群の致死率は, 有意の差 (p<0.05) で, 対照群のそれより低かった.投与後90日で判定した後遺症の程度についても, Ara-A投与群が軽かった.
