Summary:Clinical study on Azthreonam (SQ 26, 776; AZT), a new monocyclic β-lactam antibiotic were performed and the following results were obtained. 1. AZT was administered to 8 cases with pneumonia, 2 cases with diffuse panbronchiolitis and 1 case with lung abscess at a dosage of 2-6 g/day by intravenous drip infusion for 5-14 days. 2. Clinical response of AZT was excellent in 1 case, good in 7 cases, fair in 1 cases and poor in 2 cases. 3. Transient elevation of serum GOT, GPT was observed in 3 cases.
