Summary:We performed basic and clinical studies on RU 28965 in infections in the otorhinolaryngological field. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The mean concentration of RU 28965 after oral administration of a single 150 mg tablet was 4.62μg/giml in serum, 1.81μg/g in tonsil, and 2.38μg/g in sinus mucous membrane. 2. The efficacy rates were 80.0% for acute otitis media, 36.4% for chronic otitis media, 100% for acute sinusitis and 80.0% for acute tonsillitis. 3. No clinical adverse effects or abnormal laboratory findings were found.
