Summary:We evaluated the clinical efficacy and safety of cefozopran, a new cephem antibiotics. Cefozopran was administered to 2 with bacteremia, 9 with respiratory tract infection. The patients received the drug, intravenously, for 5 to 15 days in dose of 0.5-2.0 g/day. Clinical effects were excellent in 1, good in 9, poor in 1. As side effects, Clostridium difficile-induced colitis occurred in one patient. Abnormal laboratory findings were transient elevation of transaminases in two cases.
