Summary:Myxomas are rare benign mesenchymal tumors that occur in the head and neck region. It is difficult to preoperatively diagnose myxomas on the basis of clinical features because of the lack of characteristic radiographic features. We present the case of a 62-year-old man who had a soft tissue myxoma with a painless palpable mass in the left submandibular triangle. The mass showed low signal intensity on T1-weighted images and high signal intensity on T2-weighted images on magnetic resonance imaging. The mass was removed with part of the muscle adhering to it under general anesthesia. Histopathologically, the mass was diagnosed as a myxoma. No recurrence has occurred as of 7 years after excision.
