Summary:Variability among four alternative sets of life expectancy estimates for Mexican Americans is compared with Anglo and black life expectancies. Depending upon the definition used, the data demonstrate that Mexican Americans have either higher life expectancies than Anglos or lower ones. These results underscore the need to define ethnic populations, especially Mexican Americans, carefully.
