Summary:Since home oxygen therapy (HOT) has been proposed for patients with respiratory failure, the incidence of HOT has gradually increased. However there is some controversy about the prognosis of patients for HOT, at first, it is important to get the information how the patients for HOT follow the O2 inhalation according to the medical doctors' prescription. To get the information, SaO2 monitoring was performed at home using a pulse oxymeter. The results showed that most of the patients for HOT did not follow the O2 inhalation as the medical doctor prescribed, especially during working. It was obvious that relatively stronger, younger patients did not follow the O2 inhalation. That was the main reason why a lot of reratively younger patients were having heart failure. It was found that the above mentioned cause was the inconvenience due to instruments which created a cosmetic problem. It is thought that the above results should improve the O2 inhalation instruments and guide the amount of comfortable work load in detail.
