A New Surgical Treatment for Repairing Transverse Arch-Descending Aortic Aneurysm Using a Stent-Reinforced Graft

We report a new surgical method for repairing aneurysm of the transverse arch and descending aorta using stentreinforced grafts. Summary:We report a new surgical method for repairing aneurysm of the transverse arch and descending aorta using stentreinforced grafts. In this method, the force of the stent pressing the graft toward the vascular wall substitutes for the distal anastomoses of brachiocephalic vessels and descending aorta. This surgery can be performed through only a median sternotomy with minimal circulatory arrest time. We applied this new method in a patient with an enlarged type B dissection. This method offers a less invasive surgical procedure especially for high-risk patients.
