Summary: | MT-141 was administered to patients diagnosed in the Department of Internal Medicine as having respiratory tract infections. The following points summarize the method and therapeutic results of this study. 1. MT-141 was administered to a total of 14 patients, consisting of 12 cases of acute bronchopneumonia, 1 case of chronic bronchitis and 1 case of bronchiectasis. 2. The therapeutic efficacy was rated as “excellent” in 2 patients, “good” in 7 patients, “fair” in 2 patients and “poor” in 2 patients, while the results could not be evaluated in 1 patient. The “good” or greater efficacy rate was thus 69. 2%(9 out of 13 patients; excluding the 1 case which could not be evaluated). 3. Bacteriologically, the causative microbe was isolated from 5 patients. There was no change in 4 of these bacteria, while 1 was replaced by another bacterium. 4. One patient was seen to develop a fever which was considered to be caused by MT-141. Howeever, there were no abnormalities in the laboratory test results which were considered attributable to MT-141. 5. It can be concluded that MT-141 is a useful antibiotic in the treatment for respiratory tract infections. |
