Summary:Methacrylamide grafted silk fabrics were dyed with acid, metal complex, reactive, direct, disperse dyes. The effect of methacrylamide grafting on the color fastness, and the color difference between silk and methacrylamide grafted silk fabrics were examined. The K/S value was slightly lowered by methacrylamide grafting, but the hue, lightness and chroma were hardly modified by grafting. Methacrylamide grafting did not appear to affect the color fastness to wet rubbing, washing, perspiration, dry-cleaning and light, however methacrylamide grafting lowered slightly the fastness of disperse dyes to dry rubbing and appreciably that to hot pressing.
