血しょう交換装置を利用した血中α‐フェトプロテイン除去による肝細胞がん治療へのアプローチ

The effect of the Plasma Exchange in eliminating blood AFP was evaluated in the patients with hepatoma. The blood AFP was decreased by 68%-90% (mean ± SD=75.1 ± 10.3, n=6 in 3 cases) with the membrane plasma separater and by 35%-72% (mean ± SD) =58 ± 12.3, n=3 in 1 case) with the centrifuge plasma se...

Summary:The effect of the Plasma Exchange in eliminating blood AFP was evaluated in the patients with hepatoma. The blood AFP was decreased by 68%-90% (mean ± SD=75.1 ± 10.3, n=6 in 3 cases) with the membrane plasma separater and by 35%-72% (mean ± SD) =58 ± 12.3, n=3 in 1 case) with the centrifuge plasma separater. In all cases, the symptoms were improved by the plasma exchange. Mild side effects (eruptions and fever) appeared in 22% of the trials. Tsukada et al. reported that anti-AFP-antibodies had cytotoxity to hepatoma cells. We expect that plasma exchange may prevent the formation of Ag-Ab complexes in the blood and may potentiate the effect of anti-AFP-antibodies against hepatoma cells.
