Summary: | 1) Ceftezole (CTZ) was administered once daily to 14 cases with acute simple urinary tract infection at a dose of 500 mg or 1, 000 mg by intramuscular injection for 2 days. In 7 cases with a dose of 500 mg, the result was excellent in 3 cases, effective in 2 and ineffective in 2. In 7 cases with 1, 000 mg, the result was excellent in 5 cases, effective in 1 and ineffective in 1. The recurrence for 2 weeks after the treatment was found in each one case of two groups. 2) CTZ was administered to 5 cases with chronic complicated urinary tract infection at a daily dose of 1.0-2.0 g by intramuscular injection for 5 days. The result was excellent in 1 case, effective in 2 and ineffective in 2. 3) Bacteriological effects in acute simple cases were found in 8 strains out of 11 in E. coli and 3 out of 3 in Staph. epidermidis. In chronic complicated cases, bacteriological effects were found in 1 out of 3 in E. coli, 0 out of 1 in Pseudomonas and 1 out of 3 in Enterobacter. 4) As side effects with CTZ, anorexia was noticed in only one case. No other abnormal symptoms and laboratory findings were noticed. |
