(3) It was concluded that this mucilage consisted of a large amount of rhamnose and gal-acturonic acid, and then of a small quantity of galactose and of xylose, and no other carbohyd-rates. (4) The ash content of mucilage was about 26%, which mainly consisted of CaO (Fe203 and MgO were neglegible), and this calcium was seemed to be combined with mucilage.
