Summary:The purpose of this study is to explore the optimum conditions for dichromated gelatin phase hologram preparation. Influence of the molecular weight distribution and the hardening conditions of gelatin on the image quality of the hologram was investigated. It was found that the stronger hardening gave the more even diffraction grating and the lower diffraction efficiency, and that gelatin with lower molecular weight gave the higher diffraction efficiency.
