Summary:In rehabilitation for challenged kids, less-burdensome healthcare monitoring is needed. Therefore, we improved a sleep monitor using under-pillow-typed pressure sensor and a lavatory-installed body and excretion monitor system previously developed by us for adults to the measurements in the children. Using the new detection program for respiration and body motion in children, the sleep condition in two children with cerebral palsy or autism were successfully detected. Moreover, the toilet-seat-installed and floor-located body weight scales newly developed could be easily placed in the toilet of adults' and children's use. The excretion weight could be also detected in a four-year-old girl with motor retardation using the analysis program capable of detecting the accurate body and excretion weight without the influence of the body motion. From these results, it is demonstrated that the present system could be useful means for less-burdensome healthcare in the challenged kids.
