Summary:In this presentation, we propose a sensitive monitoring device for detecting a slight movement of respiration and pulse. An air cell sheet with air pressure sensor which is possible to detect a slight movement was developed. The sensor-sheet placed under various mattresses was able to detect a slight movement of respiration and pulse without physical restraint. Monitoring device equipped with the above sheet and a nurse call system was developed. The device was used in special elder nursing home. The device was placed under air mattress and was properly able to detect a slight movement of respiration and pulse, who required terminal care, without physical restraint.
