Troubled by the threats to peace that persisted in the world since the firstPacem in Terrisconvocation in 1965, more than 300 diplomats, scholars, theologians, journalists, and businesspeople from seventy countries attended. On May 30, I was the last speaker on a panel titled “Beyond Coexistence.” The panellists who spoke before me were distinguished political leaders from Yugoslavia, France, Senegal, and the United States.
