Summary:Durability of the reinforced concrete decks on highway bridges depends on the corrosion of the reinforcing bar and fatigue due to the traffic load. In this paper, field investigation of these damage and various laboratory tests using old removed highway bridge decks are conducted. In addition, we propose structural assessment using the deflection of the reinforced concrete decks. From the results, several findings regarding the corrosion of the reinforcing bar due to chloride ion penetration and fatigue mechanism of concrete decks are obtained.
