Summary:To decrease the amount of the reguired blood flow at the extracorporeal circulation, we have developed a system which is composed of a dialyzer and the FC-43 emulsion as oxygen carrier. This system of CO2 excretion is more efficient because the concentration of bicarbonate ion is normally20-fold greater than the concentration of disolved CO2. Furthermore oxygenation of this system is achieved by using the FC-43 emulsion. This system could support a dog with the low frequent ventilation at a low amount of extracorporeal circulation.
