Summary:Nineteen patients with complicated urinary tract infections were given cefixime (CFIX) at a daily dose of 0.2g b.i.d. orally for 5 days, and following results were obtained. Clinical results were excellent in 4 cases, good in 4 and poor in 11. The overall efficacy rate was 42%. As to the bacteriological response, organisms were eliminated in 7, replaced in 3 and persisted in 9 cases. During the treatment no side effects of CFIX own were observed.
