Summary:The present study was carried out to clarify the hilar structure of the bile ducts by the rotating cholangiography using digital biplain angiography system. The subjects consisted of 13 patients (bile ducts carcinoma in 7, pancreatic carcinoma and intrahepaticlithiasis each in 2, etc). Contrast medium were injected from biliary drainage tube and the rotating cholangiography were perfomed following procedures; horizontal spin was the rotating radiographic image of 180 degrees to the patient in the horizontal axis, cranial spin was the tilting image to the cranial position at 30 degrees to the horizontal axis, caudal spin was tilting to the caudal position at 30 degrees, craio-caudal spin was the image of 60 degrees from cranial to caudal position. The vertical rotating axis to the sickness lesion was calculated and the vertical spin to the lesion, so called "Targetting Shot", w as performed using 3-axis arm system. Each rotating images showed the biliary tree consecutively and the hilar structure of the bile ducts were clearly recognized. The rotating cholangiography was of value in clarifying the hilar structure of the bile ducts and it is one of the further examination methods for the biliary tract.
