Summary: | Since the organization of the American Economic Association thirty years ago, there have been but two of its twenty-five scientific meetings at which one session, at least, has not been devoted to theoretical discussion. This prominence reflects the continuing interest of American economists in social speculation. The conspicuous place of theoretical papers in journal literature, the considerable proportion of expository treatises among formal publications, are counterparts of the same phenomenon. |
