Summary:Tobramycin, a new aminoglycoside antibiotic, was clinically applied to 19 courses in 18 patients with severe infections in the field of traumatology and the following results were obtained; 1) Tobramycin was clinically effective in 10 cases, failure in 6 cases and unevaluable in 3 cases, and it was especially effective in the respiratory tract infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 2) No adverse reactions or side effects were observed in the patients treated by daily dosage of 3.0 mg/ kg of tobramycin for 8 days. 3) The recommended usual daily dosage of tobramycin was considered to be 3.0 mg/kg divided in three times a day.
