Summary: | Apparent rate of hydrogenation of benzene on the T-61 catalyst (Ni catalyst supported on silica with third components) was measured under various operating conditi in a differential reactor. The rate data were summarized by a Hougen-Watson type expression To obtain extremely high-purity cyclohexane, produce distribution by side reactions was experimentally studied. It was concluded that the effect of reaction temperature on formation of paraffinic impurities was the most improtant factor. Life test on T-61 catalyst with high-purity benzene was made. The catalytic activity was found to decay experimentally with total amount of benzene converted to cycle hexane during the reaction time. |
