Summary:A computer simulation technique has been developed for the analysis of dynamic response in linkage mechanism that are coupled with hydraulic power lines. The theory of cylinders and other hydraulic elements is presented and applied to this analysis. A practical demonstration shows that the simulation agrees closely with actual swing and lifting responses of a hydraulic shovel. This technique will be a valuable tool for the design and development of new machines in such fields as construction and robotics, where hydraulic feedback control is becoming increasingly important.
