Summary:A case of pulmonary paragnglioma in a 47 year-old man is presented. He was found to have a rounded opacity in the left upper lobe on routine chest radiography. Brushing cytological specimens obtained by flexible bronchofiberscopy revealed malignant cells, therefore left upper lobectomy was performed. Histopathological and electron microscopic examination of the resected tumor showed pulmonary paraganglioma. The patient did well postoperatively, and no recurrence occured during the subsequent 4 years. The solitary form of pulmonary paraganglioma is rare. The literature was reviewed.
