Since medical wastes are infectious, toxic, and harmful, the effect of such wastes on medical personnel, waste disporsal companies, and the environment has been of great concern, and it is vital to handle such wastes properly. To handle medical wastes properly, it is necessary to train health care workers and waste management companies, secure adequate funds, and establish a supervision systems. Information on medical wastes is widely available on subjects from related guidelines to air pollution. Recently, computer networks and CD-ROM have become popular as convenient methods to search databases. This article discusses medical wastes and related information.
