Summary:The Manager System of Sedimentologic Samples - SIGA is a visual tool, developed for the use in Windows® environment that makes possible the user stores and visualizes projects in sedimentologic areas. SIGA is divided in two main modules, register and data display. The registers are subdivided between auxiliary registers and main registers. The SIGA software has been developed in Pascal language in the Delphi 5 tool, using solution of object orientation. The database manager system used was the Oracle®. The communication with the database is done in remote access. The organization of database manager system is fundamental to allow the integrity of the data stored in it. This rule was rigorously followed by SIGA. An example of the working of this organization: it is the entailment of one type of sample with a sample, which entails to a field trip, which entails to a project. Thus, a sample cannot have several field trips, but the opposite can occurs. After the data was stored and correlated in the database, the user could have the representation of the following alternatives: graphs, project reports and samples. Another important display is the Shepard's triangular diagram. The SIGA improves the register of the sedimentologic research, because it enables a special attendance from person responsible to the researchers. It also makes possible quickness and security in the registers and the data display, generating reports and graphs more quickly.
