Summary:This research focuses on enhancing the teaching and learning process in computing education through the integration of blockchain technology with immersive virtual reality (VR) systems. We conducted an experimental study with graduate students to compare traditional in-person teaching methods to VR-based teaching facilitated using cloud technology. The study also examined the dynamics of student presentations in virtual environments compared to in-person settings, with a focus on peer-to-peer interactions in the virtual space. The results revealed average perceived usability and a moderate increase in student engagement when using VR tools. However, a negative correlation was identified between student competency and the effectiveness of the virtual environment. The research also highlights challenges and potential areas for future investigation to address critical issues and further refine VR-based learning systems for computing courses. When combined with immersive VR systems, blockchain technology holds the potential to transform education. Blockchain-enabled educational databases accessed through the cloud can provide secure, interactive course materials while ensuring user identity verification. This combination of technologies could pave the way for more innovative and effective educational experiences.
