Summary:The paper presents a technical solution developed by Enel Grids and aimed at minimizing the impact on customer service continuity in the event of widespread faults.Very often these types of disruptions deprive of the power supply routes, often large portions of MV grid, however intact. In the face of faults, the selection activities have been carried out, the operating staff must repair the faulty portions of the grid with repair times that can also be long. The traditional approach is to use a multiplicity of generator sets by connecting them to the underlying LV grid, without exploiting the healthy MV part of the grid. This is because it is not trivial to refeed healthy portions from below, ensuring a selective and safe protection system of intact portions of MV grid. The article describes the technical solution found to safely feed directly the sane portions of the MV grid and with it the underlying customers, increasing the range of action of the generators. With great benefit of continuity of service perceived by customers.
