Summary: | Blockchain technology (BCT) has evolved as a revolutionary means for upgrade of supply chain management (SCM) operations in the logistic industry. This paper aims to evaluate BCT adoption impact on logistics industry supply chain management. The study evaluates on a general basis all the advantages and disadvantages that come with the implementation of BCT in the logistics industry by reviewing the existing literature. The results show that there is a positive connection between the utilization of digital technologies and the level of supply chain transparency and flexibility. For those businesses that integrate BCT into their supply chain, this could result in better openness and responsiveness which can in turn be translated into high performance and operational responsiveness. Also, the study proves the considerable impact of BCT on both SCP (supply chain performance) and integration. On the other hand, the more technology companies implement BCT, they face improvement of SCP and integration, leading to better overall industry performance and market position. The paper finishes with the call for universities, industry practitioners and policymakers to conduct research and use the opportunities offered by BCT in SCM including investing in educational programs, collaboration with tech providers and development of clear regulatory guidelines. |
