Summary:Multiple-Input Multiple Output (MIMO) is the key technology in most advanced wireless communication standarts like 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) and IEEE 802.11n/ac (Wi-Fi). MIMO provides the better performance in terms of data rates and spectral efficiency. The cost of MIMO improvements is increased computational complexity of the signal processing at both ends and, as a consequence, growing complexity of the hardware. Increasing number of antennas in MIMO systems will make MIMO systems difficult to implement.
