Study of a novel terahertz left-handed metamaterial filter

This paper studies the unique property of the terahertz left-handed metamaterial (LHM) filter. The LHM is formed in terahertz band by split ring resonators (SRR) array, square substrate and wire array. The LHM cell is simulated and confirmed that the LHM cell has double negative index. Transmission...

Summary:This paper studies the unique property of the terahertz left-handed metamaterial (LHM) filter. The LHM is formed in terahertz band by split ring resonators (SRR) array, square substrate and wire array. The LHM cell is simulated and confirmed that the LHM cell has double negative index. Transmission spectrum shows LHM has stop band and pass band fit for filter. The animated electric field distribution simulation shows the unique LHM band and backward wave of LHM filter. The simulation of T type LHM filter shows transmission behavior and the negative refraction. The proposed method presents the way to realize novel terahertz waveguide filter.
