Summary: | The authors demonstrate a novel laser with tunable and stable degree of polarization (DOP). It concludes a polarization beams separator (PBS) and a double-orientation fiber-ring resonator, which is composed of a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA), a polarization controller (PC) and a 2times2 wide-band fiber coupler. By adjusting the PC or the input current of the SOA, the average DOP in time out of the laser varies optionally from 0.16% to 99%. Employing the double-orientation ring resonator structure and PBS polarization combination method, DOP of the laser can be kept stably at any level in the adjustable range. |
