Thermal and magnetization state monitoring of PMSM drives using HF signal injection

This paper discusses the use of high frequency (HF) signal injection methods for temperature and magnetization state monitoring of permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) drives. Temperature and magnetization state are estimated from the HF impedance seen from the stator terminals. A HF signal...

Summary:This paper discusses the use of high frequency (HF) signal injection methods for temperature and magnetization state monitoring of permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) drives. Temperature and magnetization state are estimated from the HF impedance seen from the stator terminals. A HF signal is injected for this purpose via inverter. These methods does not interfere with the normal operation of the drive, and can be implemented therefore in real time.
