Summary:This paper presents modification of algorithm for the estimation of arterial blood pressure by the pulse wave propagation time. The work of the previously developed algorithm for evaluation of human blood pressure by pulse wave propagation time and the problem of its further optimization, based on the analysis of data for fifteen series of measurements of synchronously recorded electrocardiogram and pulse wave signals in twenty healthy subjects, was considered. The hypothesis about influence of heart rate variability on error of algorithm for blood pressure estimation by pulse wave propagation time was verified. As the result of this investigation, in order to increase the efficiency of the algorithm for arterial pressure indirect estimation, while calculating correction factors, it is necessary to use not only the current values of the heart rate, but also the average values. This requires preliminary registration of electrocardiogram signal for rather long time and using complex algorithms for signal processing.
