Summary: | Service Providers (TSP) view Service Delivery Platform (SDP) deployment as an important step towards rapid application rollout (using an "Application Store" for example). It is expected that the new applications developed will exploit TSP's network capabilities along with their subscribers diverse device capabilities to deliver richer end user experience. This will create a value proposition for the subscribers while also providing additional revenues streams for the TSPs. It is also expected that by providing simplified application development through easy to use Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), toolkits and attractive monetization models for application developers, a wealth of application will be offered. While TSP's are looking for additional revenue streams through new SDP deployments, one of the important criterion that is behind the SDP rollout strategy is achieving greater operational efficiencies for new application rollout as well as maintaining the existing services/applications with substantial reduction in operational expenses. In fact, this can be seen as a more compelling reason for brown field operators to adopt SDP than the motivation for enhancing their gamut of applications and services offerings to their subscribers. |
