Summary: | In the last years important improvements are developing in the electrical systems strong encouragements towards the energy saving and the installation of small renewable power sources. Harbor areas have to be considered as a unique territory, and new management business for electrical distribution systems have to be carried out by port authorities. The ports are required to arrange their electrical power distribution system and organize in microgrids. Good energy management principles, as well as electrical distribution architecture and smart devices have a vital impact on performance of the installed system throughout its lifecycle. The paper suggests an evoluted drive system for the port cranes in order to optimize the energy absorptions, to save energy as well as reduce costs. |
