Summary:Ontologies allow organization of learning material around components of semantically annotated topics, and topic maps are suited to representing ontologies. The ontology-based course enables the e-learning to do efficient semantic querying and navigation through the learning content, and it is easy to reuse, shareable and interchangeable. This paper gives an idea and exploration to creating ontology-oriented course of CN (computer networks) based on topic maps, it is for the organization and retrieval of online information in the CN Web-based course. It introduces the designing of the educational ontology of CN and the development of the ontology--based course of CN in this paper.
