A new control strategy for smoothing frequency fluctuation due to wind generation

As wind power is a natural energy source varying randomly, output from the wind power generator also fluctuates. Therefore, if the penetration level of wind power generation into the power system increases, a frequency fluctuation appears in the system. In this paper, a novel pitch control strategy...

Summary:As wind power is a natural energy source varying randomly, output from the wind power generator also fluctuates. Therefore, if the penetration level of wind power generation into the power system increases, a frequency fluctuation appears in the system. In this paper, a novel pitch control strategy for decreasing the output power fluctuation is proposed and its validity is confirmed by simulation analysis using the model system composed of 5 induction generator based fixed speed wind generators, 4 synchronous generator, and a load.
