Summary:This paper is concerned with the improvement of ride comfort and road holding of heavy duty vehicles. Skyhook model is realised for active suspension system. Skyhook control restricts the movement of sprung mass which enhances ride comfort. An inertial delay control (IDC) is employed to improve the performance of the system. IDC is used to estimate the uncertainties as well as disturbances present in the system. The sprung mass position and velocity are used to design the control law. The effectiveness of control law is validated by carrying out simulation on MATLAB/Simulink.
