Summary:This paper is focused on a fully digitally controlled data transceiver for SRD (short range devices) band 868 MHz which is based on single-chip transceiver CC1020. It can be applied in a communication system for remote control of measuring instruments, in signalling or alarm systems, and other wireless data transmissions. Presented data transceiver is conceived as a multi-purpose module driven by standard I 2 C bus. The FSK modulation format is preferred to achieve a high sensitivity of receiver for required BER. Eight communication channels with 25 kHz spacing is configured as a default setting. The maximum transmitter output power is limited to 5 dBm, but separated RX and TX sections allow an insertion of high power amplifier in compliance with standard EN 300220. Circuit design, firmware architecture, and measured resulting parameters of this data transceiver are presented in posed paper.
