Summary:This paper does not only present the procedure of designing a novel loss compensated multipath power divider, which has equal input and output power level, but also gives some considerations and discussions on designing power dividers for a frequency synthesizer. A low phase noise amplifier is introduced to compensate the distribution and insertion loss of the conventional power divider. The input and output attenuator make it flexible to adjust transmission coefficient, input and output return loss, output isolations according to design requirements. A C band prototype of the 8-way active power divider, operating at 2GHz, has been designed, fabricated and measured.
