Summary: | This paper proposes an optimal wavelength provisioning algorithm for power saving in time and wavelength division multiplexing passive optical networks (TWDM-PONs). Fuzzy logic control is used to calculate the optimal number of active wavelengths in response to upstream packet arrival rate, and the simulation results shows the proposed algorithm reduce the average number of active wavelengths and consequently reduce the power consumption in TWDM-PONs without severe degradation of the service quality. |
