Summary: | This work theoretically tailored the dispersion in a photonic crystal fiber (PCF), and then designed a nearly zero dispersion flattened PCF (DF-PCF) by liquid-filling some of the cladding holes with available liquids. The numeric results show that the DF-PCF performs the dispersion values between 0±1.5 ps/nm/km over a bandwidth range of 538 nm (1218 nm ~ 1750 nm). Finally, the confinement losses of the DF-PCF in the operation band are estimated. The numeric results show that the confinement losses of the proposed DF-PCF are extremely low, in the order of 10 -5 or 10 -6 dB/km, which even can be disregarded. |
