Summary:Nowadays, software testing is becoming more critical to ensure that software will function properly in a dynamic environment. Consequently, different types of resources such as effort, time, and fund invested on software testing activities increase significantly. As such, managers have to allocate limited resources in software development to those critical test cases rather than the exhaustive set of test cases. In this paper, we describe the results of a literature search that explores the importance and value of software test cases as a preliminary to conducting further research on this topic.
