Summary:A novel approach to reduce the dual band microstrip antenna Radar Cross Section (RCS) based on Artificial Magnetic Conductors (AMC) is presented in this paper, and making the size of the antenna which works at 5.1 GHz and 7.4 GHz decreases by 47%. The approach taken is to devise a new dual band AMC structure which has the same frequency with this antenna and load on both sides of the radiating patch of the antenna in a certain way. Finally, the antenna with AMC structure is fabricated and tested. It is observed that when the plane wave is vertical incident, the same polarization radar wave RCS in band of the antenna reduced by 20.9 dB and 17.1 dB respectively with the radiation performance is not significantly worse.
