Summary:Biological characteristic recognition is a kind of identification technology that used the human's special physiology or behavior characteristic. It provided a kind of high reliability, good stability approach to identity appreciation. Face recognition is very popular branch of the biological characteristic recognition. And also is a very active subject in the fields of the computer vision and the pattern recognition. This paper divided face recognition system into modules, and introduced the functions of each module in detail, mainly introduced the image preprocessing module, including facial image graying, facial image histogram equalization, facial image enhancement, and the facial image binarization etc. The image pre-processing module plays a crucial role in the face recognition system and the results of image preprocessing directly affect on the face identification.
