Summary:To improve the precision of Energy Detection (ED) based ranging estimation, especially in Non-Line of Sight (NLOS) environments, a new threshold selection algorithm is proposed which is based on a joint metric using the skewness and maximum slope. The best thresholds for different SNR values are investigated and the effect of the integration period is examined. Comparisons with other ED based algorithms show that in NLOS environments, the joint metric provides higher precision in both high and low SNR environments.
